Ceramic Fiber Sleeve

Application

Ceramic Fiber Sleeve is knitted from ceramic fibre yarn on specialized braiders. CFS is suitable for temperatures upto 1260oC, and typically used for covering pipelines carrying high temperature gases or liquids. It serves as a heat loss minimizing agent and also helps in providing protection to a person if he or she comes in contact with the hot surface unintentionally.

CFS can be pre-inserted with SS 304 to improve its tensile strength at elevated temperatures and it can also be coated with silicon rubber. This coating makes CFS smooth to touch or handle, thereby eliminating chances of any skin irritation that might happen.

Base Material

Ceramic Fibre, which is used in weaving CFT majorly contains Aluminium Silicate

It is chemically composed of the following:

Al2O3 (47-49%) & Al2O3 + SiO2 (99%)  - 85% (By Weight)

Other Components:

Viscose Rayon, Fibreglass Yarn - 15% (By Weight)

(Note: The Viscose Rayon present in Ceramic Fibre is the binder or the organic carrier, which smokes out at 250oC, causing a shrinkage of 12-13% in weight. This is referred as Loss on Ignition, which is an important technical parameter determining the quality of Ceramic Fibre)
