Glass Fiber Sleeve

Application

Glass Fiber Sleeve is knitted from texturized e-glass fiber yarn on specialized braiders. GFS is suitable for temperatures upto 550oC, for covering pipelines carrying high temperature gases or liquids. It serves as a heat loss minimizing agent and also helps in providing protection to a person if he or she comes in contact with the hot surface unintentionally.

GFS can be pre-inserted with SS 304 to improve its tensile strength at elevated temperatures and it can also be coated with silicon rubber. This coating makes GFS smooth to touch or handle, thereby eliminating chances of any skin irritation that might happen.

Base Material

Glass Fibre, which is used in knitting GFS is chemically known as boro-silico-alumino-calcic glass. It is a texturized e-glass yarn with a filament diameter of 9 micron.

It is chemically composed of the following:

SiO2 content (53-60%)

Al2O(11-15.5%)

Alkaline Terrous Oxides [CaO, MgO] (20-25%)

TiO(0-3%), B2O(0-9%)

Alkaline Oxides [Na2O, K2O] (<2%)
